From the lips of Ritchie comes his personal take on the AC/DC trip to Charlotte, North Carolina that took place earlier in July. Get the perspective from this "fella". A good last podcast on a great weekend!
Okay, I can see the point.
SPEAKER_02That magical Greg laugh. Again, for those of you that are not lost, this is the Losing Ticket. Today, with me, again, my name is Matt, is Richard. And this is going to be the wrap-up show from the ACDC road trip that we took back on the weekend of the 11th. So we got my perspective, the correct perspective, mind you. But now we're going to get uh Richie's take on exactly what happened and uh the events of that. Great trip.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I'm in a good mood right now. It's gonna be ruined by rehashing it. No, I'm kidding. Um so I want to have a little uh little uh announcement before we uh before we get into this. Um I had an absolute tremendous time. Tremendous weekend. It was great. It may not sound like it in the next hour or so, but that wouldn't be entertaining if I told you how much fun it was for an hour, right? Um so yeah, and uh Matt it was Matt's idea originally, and what a great idea it was. Matt's one of the most generous people you'll ever meet. Um, and it was so much fun. Um probably seeing ACDZ for the last time, I'd imagine. Um so it was uh bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Uh that's a band that I've listened to since I since, you know, I knew what a guitar was. Um just seeing what's left of them was awesome. 10 out of 10 show. It was amazing. So, yeah. Okay, so that's the good part. So let's start with the beginning. I've listened to both podcasts that you had. First off, you start by saying Okay, this okay, this playlist thing. Let's get into this thing. So you talk about this playlist. The playlist lasted about 45 minutes. Okay. Before it started repeating songs, if you remember correctly.
SPEAKER_02I did it on shuffle, I don't have control over that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I was annoyed at the idea of a playlist because um I'd say 5% is because I'm a curmudgeon. The other 95% is like, hey, let's listen to a band. But let's listen to the whole album. Let's like hit the I'm a deep cut guy, you know what I mean? Matt wants the hits. Matt wants I like this song, I think we should like this song, I like this song. Well, alright, fine, but let's like let's pick an Iron Maiden now, listen to that. But you know, that's fine. One of the things that he said right away that annoyed me, he goes, I pulled up and I played some what song do you claim you played?
SPEAKER_02It was um Um um Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know that's That's an Ellen John song. Okay, great. So Matt claims I was annoyed by that. I was not. Yes, you were. May I explain?
SPEAKER_02Alright, go on.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. Okay. So I didn't care about the song. He does that every time he blasts a song when he pulls up and he stares. It's a gimmick he has, it's fine. What was annoying was and I this is a very important point for later on in the episode, he spent ten minutes talking about a minor league baseball game he was at two days prior, and it's like, let's fucking go, baby. Let's get on the road. Who's I talking to though?
SPEAKER_02My mom. Exactly. So being respectful to your parents.
SPEAKER_01But he just kept going on about it, and ah nah, let's go. But the point is, it doesn't matter if you're going for two minutes, ten minutes, five minutes. The reason why I was annoyed wasn't the music, it was he's talking about a Buffalo Bison game.
SPEAKER_02Who I don't like, mind you, because they're the Toronto Blue Jays now.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And we'll get into that what point of that to where it's like completely makes no sense what he just said. And we'll get into this. So um, Matt, on a scale of one to ten, we'll do it this way. First of all, Matt was very gracious as far as driving. He uh he offered to drive the whole way, which is both a busting and a curse. Um I offer to drive several times. Now, did I o offer to drive to preserve my own life? No. I wouldn't have been less polite about that. You were very cautious of my sugar, so yes, kinda you were. In general, I'm always cautious about your sugar, but that's your general well-being. If if I was worried about my own life, I would have said, pull the fuck over, I'm driving. I wouldn't have been like, hey, did he he just admitted how he can be mean, but go on. Very much so. When it comes to you, I'm very mean. So, um Matt, on a scale of one to ten, how good of a driver do you think you are? Like ten being like great driver. Like smoke, like Tony Stewart? Yeah, and then like one being you should have your license checked once a year. Like one to ten, what do you think? Four to five. Okay. I I admire your honesty. Yeah. Matt is probably the worst driver I know. Like the worst. Okay, so two weeks ago, he almost gets he almost hits a car parking.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, I remember that one.
SPEAKER_01Uh, in downtown Buffalo. Yeah. As witnessed by our friend Mikey Fingers, who's been on this this episode, uh, this show. Matt, you have this thing where you have to hit the gas real hard to go five feet and then break real hard.
SPEAKER_02It's a VA, it's not me, it's the V8.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. It's a lot of truck. It is bizarre. Bizarre that he has to like Ooh, I'm in a I'm in a big machine here. And then this other thing he does that I cannot I've thought about this so much, and I can't comprehend it. I brought it up to him. He so you know how like when you're on the thro- We call it through ways here in Western New York, but you're on the the freeway, the highway, whatever the fuck. The right lane is the regular lane, the left lane is the passing lane. So when you're in the right lane, and I'm talking to you, audience, you see a car coming, you're in the right lane. You're coming up to it, you know you're gonna pass it. What do you do? You put your signal on, you you you have an awareness that you're you're making ground on the car, and you go in the left lane and you pass him. Matt doesn't do that. What Matt does is he flies up to the car to tailgate in the right lane, mind you, and then gets really mad, has to break, and then he can't get over. This happens almost every time. That he can't get over because there's other cars going by. When if he would have just gone over when he had the chance, it wouldn't have been a problem. So he gets all angry. And several times like my favorite was, this is my favorite, was when you couldn't get over, you're like, fucking Subaru! You blamed the Subaru passing, passing. You were like, fucking Subaru, like it was the Subaru's fault. I don't know if it's like uh I'm in a big machine and they're not, and if I go up to them, they're gonna be really scared. Yeah. And they're gonna go faster, or you just don't, you're not aware of the fact that like what it like you gotta help me out with. Alpha Mel. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So there is a stigma of guys in trucks having that like attitude, but it's justified.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02We spend more money in gas, we have a bigger part of the road, we deserve more of the road. Okay. So when grandma and grandpa or and Mike, I guess Mikey, because this is a Subaru now, which doesn't make sense because Subaros usually go real slow anyways. That's what pisses me off. People are always there when they don't need to be, they should know their role. I I just I am who I am. I I blurt, you know this. Yes. I go from zero to a hundred in a second, but then I go back down to zero in another second.
SPEAKER_01Very much so, right? Very much so.
SPEAKER_02My boys know how to play that game very easily. They Michelle still hasn't after 34 years. But the boys know how to play this game very, very easily. I think you've mastered it. Mikey's mastered it. Greg, I'm not sure. Jerry, no. But um, but people, these strangers in these fucking cars, like, what the fuck? I don't I I you know, yeah. I just and then I hate subaros. I fucking hate subrus. I hate Mitsubishi's, school bosses.
SPEAKER_01When I say this, I say this without even joking. I think the list of cars you hate. Oh, it's up there. Is outweighs the cars you have. Like if you could it'd be quicker to say I like Chevy's.
SPEAKER_02I like GMs and I I don't drive a Ford, but I have no problem with Ford's. I you know what I hate? This is what I hate. I know we're getting off the ass with it. I hate Joe American, Mr. I'm a hunter, Mr. I got a plow at the front of my fucking truck, right? Yeah. And he drives a fucking like Toyota Tundra. And I'll tell you that guy. I'll tell you that fucking guy. Greg's next door neighbor, Dave. Oh, okay. Does he drive a Toyota? I don't know, but he's that fucking guy. Mr. America, but I got a Canadian flag on my front. I'm Mr. Buffalo all the way, but I have a Toronto Blue Jays. Fucking thing. Like, I'm sorry, but because of the Maple Leafs, Toronto is wiped clean. Like, you there should be nothing about Toronto that's that's anything. Okay. Unless you maybe knew somebody from Toronto. That makes sense. Like, okay, friend, like individuals is not a problem.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But like in a general blanket, like, oh, I like the Blue Jays, they're the closest team. They're not even fucking in the same country. And I would hope that you would agree with that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I yeah, I I I'm a Yankee fan as far as baseball goes. I hate the Blue Jays. But okay. And even if I wasn't Yankee, I wouldn't be a Toronto fan.
SPEAKER_02No, I'd be a Cleveland or Pittsburgh fan or fucking 100%.
SPEAKER_01You know. Maybe even National League, who knows? Well, that that's actually, but still, you get my point.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah. Um So I don't like that guy. And when I see people in that fucking setup, I fucking it just it it just boils my blood. It boils my fucking blood.
SPEAKER_01When you try to get over and they're the they're blocking you in the little super.
SPEAKER_02And we're going 55, we're going or 65 or 70. Well, where are we going like 70 on the way?
SPEAKER_01And then and then to the point where you hit the car, well then hit the car, but you catch up to the car in the right lane and stop because they're not, you know, going as fast as you would like them to go. In the right lane.
SPEAKER_02Normally when someone comes up on your ass, you speed up a little.
SPEAKER_01There's a movie where that's if somebody comes up, Tailscape, you go faster. I think it's gone in 60 seconds. Oh, is it? I think so. Um, okay, so you made an accusation about uh on the way there about you have that Waze app. Yeah. Now you called it Waze. I really hope you did that on purpose. I really did. Oh, I don't know what it's called. I'm assuming it's Waze, because like, you know, the way to go, I would assume it's Waze. I think Jeffrey called it Waze once. Oh, he's a he's a fellow you, so um you said that I was having fun with that. I was like a little kid pressing the buttons. Let me tell you 100% that is true. Like, I have no defense. I was enjoying because it was like my way of contribu uh contributing. I was we were splitting gas, but I wasn't driving, so I still felt guilty. So I'm gonna press the buttons, you know what I mean? Um on the way there, we went, you know, we had a couple stops where we had to get food. Obviously, Matt talked about the um the uh the chicken wrap that was disgusting.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, which you tried. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So then we go we stopped somewhere else to get some food, and we stopped at Burger King. Now you said Rich wanted to go to Burger King. Rich did not want to go to Burger King. It was just, there was like three restes.
SPEAKER_02We had to get gas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and we we we were looking for places and we were like, yeah, we we mutually like, it wasn't like tomato tomatoes, tomato tomatoes. It's not like I had my heart set on- I haven't had Burger King in years, and there's a reason why. So, did I throw my shit at the Burger King uh window door? Absolutely did. 100%. Excuse me. Oh, it's gotta be Gregor's. Unprofessional. I apologize. Is it Gregor Jill? It's Gerald. Fucking motherfucker. So I don't go to fast food restaurants. I'm not above fast food restaurants. Oh, you are. I used to go in a good way, though. Yeah, in a good way. In a good way, you are. A combination of the price, value, the the yeah, the um inconsistent service, the quality, and I I am a healthier person now. I've I'm I live a healthier lifestyle.
SPEAKER_02You finally broke the 300-pound ladies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um so it's just those combinations. So going to Burger King the first time in a long time, it just, you know, you run you're on vacation. Who gives a shit? So they fuck up my order twofold. They overcharge me, give me the wrong deal, whatever, I let it go. But I'm annoyed. And because I'm hangry. So then I open my thing and it has mayonnaise on it. When I said no mayonnaise, no lettuce. Lettuce is doable, you can just take it off. Mayonnaise, though. Look, I don't, it's not like I just dislike mayonnaise. Like, I would dry heave on it. I hate there are mayonnaise.
SPEAKER_02You know, I you're not the only person. I have a friend Tamara, and she I can send her a picture of a of a jar of Miracle Whip and she'll like dry heave.
SPEAKER_01Here's the thing I don't mind miracle whip. It's mayonnaise. Oh, well, to me it's Yeah, it's the same shit. But I like it. I like it. But I have no use for ma miracle whip either. Like I don't use it on anything, so it doesn't really matter. You don't put in your tuna? Nope. Well, well, yeah, but I don't eat tuna anymore. Why? Because I just haven't. Um it is, but a lot of mercury and cholesterol. So, um I got really mad, which is in my older years, I I don't have the temper that other people do sitting next to me. But it was just a combination of things, probably being next to Matt and him annoying me for, you know, probably six hours at this point. I took the wrapper, not the food, but once I cleaned up the food, I took it and I just threw it on the ground. And then Matt is right, somebody did beep the horn at us, like, and Matt was like, have I the right to go, man? I wonder if they're gonna get called up for littering or something. Matt wasn't.
SPEAKER_02Well, I've never embarrassed you like you embarrassed me on that point.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I threw I did throw it at the door, and looking back, I do feel bad about that because I'm not that type of person, but it did happen.
SPEAKER_02And it was in West Virginia, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Maybe and I feel bad for those people.
SPEAKER_02Well, like I sent you that video of the coal the coal miners um picnic, yeah. Which I would go to, but like look at them. Like I felt bad, I really I feel bad for that country, that state.
SPEAKER_01What are you talking about? Oh, West Virginia. Yeah. I was I enjoyed West Virginia. West Virginia's beautiful. Yeah. The problem was when I explained to them how they got my my the the deal wrong that I ordered, I just got a blank stare back. There was not an oh let's make this right, or here, do you want to refund? Or nothing. Just like, oh, here you go. And it's just like, fuck this.
SPEAKER_02I wish I saw that. That was.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was like, alright, I can deal with this. I'm not gonna cause the scene because it's not who I am. But when the so when that yeah, that did happen. And you know.
SPEAKER_02Was it good though? Did you did the sandwich end up taste okay?
SPEAKER_01No, it had manny's on it. I had to like wipe it off, and even then you get like Manny's remnants. Yeah, you do, don't you? You know, so it was it was awful. But um So yeah, and then the mountain thing where we drove through the mountains, I thought that was really cool. Just going through I've never been through a mountain before. Yeah, that was cool. I always like that. So excuse me. And that's that's yeah for being excited about it. You know, going through a mountain. So then after nine and a half hours of Matt heroically driving, we get to the hotel. What hotel was it? Uh it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_02Hilton Garden Park Inn or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Hilton Hotel. We get there. And we get out of the car, and at this point, in Statesville, North Carolina, we get at this point, he Matt says something that I was never so angry the entire weekend is when he said this. He gets out of the car and he goes, There's just something about that southern air, it just smells different. We're sta first of all, we're standing by a fucking uh mulch bed. I smell cow shit. Uh-huh. And I smell the chlorine from a pool. There's no southern air that smells. And then he's trying to like, oh the trees are different. It's a different tree. The pine is different. There is different pines down here. I'm sure there are, Matt. You didn't get out of the car and smell different air. That didn't happen. It's warmer and cleaner. You smelled cow shit and and hotel uh water pull uh, you know, chlorine or whatever the fuck. I wanted I wanted to kill this man in his sleep. I was making plans. The problem is he didn't, you know, he did go ahead.
SPEAKER_02You did address that right away though. Oh, I couldn't, I have no case. What do you even mean? Oh, I and I kind of explained it to him, and then he just shook his head in disgust. I I disgust.
SPEAKER_01Like, there's annoyance and there's anger. Like, I it's a scale. Once you get to a level 10 in annoyance, then it goes into anger. Like it's a new it's like a great, it's like going from the triple A to major leagues. You know, annoyance is triple A. Anger is I was an A. I was level red when you said I've done a few.
SPEAKER_02I did I think I did a few things this week. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01So we go after that, we go to um I find oh no, no, we go to we go to uh Walmart. No, he didn't. Did we go to Walmart before we went to eat? Yeah, we did. So we go to Walmart. Why? Because I wanted to get swim trunks. And did you? No. So Matt mentioned that I maybe was like checking out different sizes and different looks of the swim trunks and taking forever. And were you not? And I will tell you this. That is 100% true. That did happen. I will admit to that. Here's here's my thing. I wanted a comfortable swim trunk, okay? Um I had these like thoughts, perhaps you may say fantasies, about being in this nice hotel pool, hanging out, maybe a couple ladies drop by, maybe they have a couple There were a couple ladies in there for a couple of things. Yeah, yeah. We'll get into that. Like a couple, you know, maybe they had a couple glasses of wine. I I have a gummy, we're just sh uh, you know.
SPEAKER_02One thing leads to another.
SPEAKER_01One thing leads to another, so you never know, right? So I want to look, you know, have something that doesn't look embarrassing from Walmart, you know, and I just end up wearing shorts. But ended up being when I went in the pool, was like these two little annoying little brats that were like 11 years old. I lasted 10 minutes and stuff. I wish I was there for that. Oh, I wanted I wanted to just oh I was on TikTok at the time. You were probably were, yeah. Yeah. So um I did buy a giant barrel of cheese balls, but what Matt forgot conveniently was he also bought a barrel of cheese balls. But but did I open mine up? No, you didn't.
SPEAKER_02And did I have a half of them in that one night?
SPEAKER_01No, no. Who knows if you eventually open them up, though. I did they are but they were for my granddaughter. Oh, okay. Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure a detective would believe that. This is for my granddaughter. No, they didn't. No, not at the when I purchased them, but believe me, she's a big. Oh, I'm looking at it right now through the the reflection of the channel. She loves them. She loves them. She ate that many? Well, no, I had to. That's what I thought. Because that's a lot of cheese balls gone from that thing. Should make that your picture of your podcast.
SPEAKER_02It's still not even as empty as it was the night before.
SPEAKER_01That is true, that is true. That was three weeks ago. Remember that whole healthy lifestyle thing I just told you about? No, you took a it was a vacation weekend. It was a vacation weekend. And you were high. Yeah, I was a little, I had I had some munchies. I had the munchies going on. So then we went to this restaurant. It was fucking fantastic. I had like the best sandwich I ever had in my life. It was a steaks, it was a ribeye sandwich with bacon jam on it. Holy fuck was it good. That bacon jam was good. It was oh my god. So Matt does what he does. He orders an appetizer, eats the appetizer, doesn't want to eat the regular. This is like a pattern. I've noticed.
SPEAKER_02I do it every time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I actually had to tell him politely, and I was polite about it. The next restaurant we went to, like, hey, maybe don't eat do an appetizer because so you can enjoy your meal that you wanted, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um the waitress was fantastic. Katie. Katie was her name. She just super polite. We're Facebook.
SPEAKER_02Warm.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure you are. Uh Southern Girl, just so nice. Um she gave us some recommendation on recommendations on bars. She didn't realize that the one bar that she recommended to us was a Bill's bar, which is hilarious. Just by coincidence, she recommended us this bar down the street, and it ended up being a Bills bar. Guy that was there was from Buffalo. We didn't go in because it was like probably we don't really drink like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're not.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, I don't. We'll get into that too, folks. Um, so that was cool. Um yeah, and so then he forgets his credit card like an asshole. Can't take him anywhere. It's a power move. So, yeah, it's a bar move. So then he does this thing. He he hinted at it, I'll explain what it is. Um He does this thing where he touches women without their consent. I want to point this out.
SPEAKER_02It sounds so much worse than it really is.
SPEAKER_01Well, if it wasn't that big of a deal, you would have explained it casually in the la the previous podcast. You said, I'll let Rich explain it. Well now Rich is doing his job as a you did.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01So I and we did the last time we hung out, we we chat GPT'd whether this is illegal or not.
SPEAKER_02And there is questions on this.
SPEAKER_01And the chat GPT said, depending on where you are in the country, this what he did could be considered non-consensual sexual assault. Now, oh my god, listen, is it that big of a deal? Probably not. Depends on the person and how value much they value their fingers. They don't even know I do it. That's how growth I'm at it. Well, well, if this podcast gets any bigger, they're going to figure it out. But what he does is when he hands when when he like let's say he goes to like McDonald's or anywhere there's an exchange of cash or credit card, in this case a credit card, when there is the hand exchange, he takes his fingers and caresses their one finger, this finger. His pointer finger as he's pointing at me right now very uncomfortably and caresses their pointer finger? I stroke it. He stro what a word to use, by the way. Thank you. A gentle rub. No, we're sticking with stroke, because I really would love to see you in prison. So we're so he strokes their finger as he grabs the thing. Now is that is that the worst thing in the world? No, but it is creepy as all hell. And according to Chat GPT, it could possibly be. Legal to pen and he just dropped his key cake. It's all good. So that was and he he immediately tells me after Kate runs outside to hand him his credit card. He immediately I so I could do it a second time. So he immediately tells me that he did it. He brags about it. Like this is some kind of accomplishment. Like he's proud of himself. Like, check that off the box of my vacation. I diddled somebody.
SPEAKER_02Have you worked at a Tim Hortons, Deltasonic, any other place where you have to go through a drive-thru or you have a rash on your finger? Yeah, any rash on your finger comes from Massive Matt.
SPEAKER_01You have a douche rash on your finger. It's my non-wiping hand. Yeah. Don't worry. So then we get back. Matt takes a shit in the hotel. Now, he s he incorrectly said on the podcast that he farted, gave me a drive-by. That didn't happen. He said he he had a dude.
SPEAKER_02I definitely farted. Maybe in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_01What you said was, oh, I'm gonna fart, I'm gonna fart right by you. And I said, You can do that, but two can play that game and I will beat you. I will have you out of this hotel.
SPEAKER_02He would beat me on that one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Because I ate bad food. I had Burger King, all the shit, so I was loaded. So I I you know, so he didn't, but he was once again. This is a man who's in his fifth decade of life. He was recording himself taking the dump. Yelling like he was being stabbed. Going, Oh my god! Oh my god, it's coming out! It's coming out! Like recording himself. And I'm sitting there going, This mother f what what what is going on? By the way, it wasn't- I don't even think it was that crazy like it didn't it within 20 minutes that there was no smell. It was fine. Yeah. Because I don't smell like you do. Yeah, but you acted like it's this was like this was like you were dropping little boy. It hurt, it was going out the sideways. Okay. So fine, that's fine. Little boy. That's how you were acting. So this was like one of those times now where I wanted to kill Matt. Not only so he he he falls asleep pretty quickly. No, I didn't. You did. The second night I did. When I was high. Oh, okay. The first night I didn't. Okay, well. I'll go I'll go over what happened. So he falls asleep at some point, and he is snoring. Now okay. Now even like Matt, of course Matt's a snore, because he has to be annoying when he's awake and asleep when he's not even trying, right? I wanted to kill him soon. And this is not even the most annoying part of the night. Of the weekend when it comes to sleeping. Like, this was night one of sleep where Rich, I think, got two hours of sleep. Because I had to listen, because I'm very, you know, I had I had my headphones in, and unless I wanted to crank it up to where my tinnitus gets worse, I like his snoring was cutting right through the headphones. And he and I'm looking at him sleeping, and he's got these giant muff headphones, and the sight of those, I wanted to fucking find like the garbage pail and just smash his fucking head. Just the sight of it. Oh so whatever. I'm on two hours, three hours of sleep, going into the next day. That's fine. No biggie. It's a new day, we're all in a good mood. Um Matt was like zero, zero sympathetic about it. Like couldn't could not care less. Because Michelle's sores. I'm not Michelle. Well, hey, it's already by I I don't believe that, by the way. I don't believe that's you always take her side. Of course. Um so the next day. So now we're into Saturday. Great day, by the way. Overall, great day. Um I go on a I go on a run on the treadmill. Matt is 100% correct. I went from the treadmill to the pool. I didn't know that was a thing. That was like a bad thing. Like a like a faux pas. I didn't know that. I was in the pool and I see a sign that says please shower before entering the pool. I I I And Richie sweats like a pig, just so you know. I do. Even though I'm in tremendous cardiovascular shape at this point in my life. He sweat, he sweats. I sweat like a like you said, a pig. I am a sweater.
SPEAKER_02So I could touch a girl's finger. Dry finger. Uh dry on dry, but you can jump your sweaty, dirty, hairy ass into a swimming pool.
SPEAKER_01Dry on dry is don't ever say that again, please. First off. Don't ever say that. That I'm disturbed. You're right, but there's the whole like thing of like motive. For me, it was an innocent mistake. A faux pas.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_01You, ChatGPT, is not sure if that's assault or not. So if you want to compare the two.
SPEAKER_02Good thing I'm in New York where you can't get arrested.
SPEAKER_01So, Matt. So Okay, so it's Saturday, we're into the next day. So, Matt, tell us again about how you're not fully into the bisons. Please, please explain.
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, alright.
SPEAKER_01So I'm This is what a good storyteller does. He connects things from the past to the pri Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02So I it's not the Buffalo Bisons the franchise that I dislike. I still have an affection for the bisons. But until they get rid of their their parent team, which is the Toronto Blue Jays, I cannot root for them. I don't give a shit what what their powder baby blue uniforms, all that other bullshit.
SPEAKER_04I love it.
SPEAKER_02When I f when I was a little kid, they used to play at a uh a ballpark that no longer exists, it was War Memorial Stadium. Yep. It was the Cincinnati Reds, then it was the Chicago White Sox, which I vividly remember that era. Like I was probably in middle school. Then when we went to the Pollard Field or whatever they call it now, it was the Cleveland No, Pittsburgh Pirates.
SPEAKER_01That's that's that was that's my early.
SPEAKER_02Okay, Pittsburgh Pirates, which was great. Yeah, and I didn't I wasn't a Party fan, but it was like it's all good as American. In America. Then then they switched over to Cleveland, and I and I'm not an Indians fan, but they treated us very well because they brought in some really good talent. Like the so like say you're a uh a major league ball player, you're like in your mid-early 30s, you don't want to give up the sport just yet, but you know you really don't have it. So these guys kind of float around in the minors.
SPEAKER_04I have these.
SPEAKER_02Do you?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Ah, there you go. Um and and so the Cleveland Indians used to bring people like that in. So you would see a guy who was like an all-star five, ten years ago. Let's go to Toronto, and we had the Mets in Toronto. Yeah, we had the Mots, and then we had Toronto. Uh Toronto and every city they've been in before Buffalo has always screwed their farm system up. They they never bring anybody in, they half-ass everything. There's only one good thing that the fucking Toronto Blue Jays have ever done, and that was well, the country of Canada wouldn't let people go in during COVID.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_02They played their games in Buffalo, which they did not want to do. They might want to do it, that's right. They did not want to do it, so fuck them.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02But the Major League Baseball said, go fuck yourself, and they did. And so we were able to go to a bunch of games, which I was very excited about. 100%. But it's still the Blue Jays. I don't give a shit if it's next door. I I hope. I'm I I sh it's almost every day my prayers. I hope that the Blue Jays buy a franchise and put them in fucking Hamilton so that that's their triple A team.
SPEAKER_01And that's why Matt does not support the bisons.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I can't I can't take it. I can't take it. So guess what he wore.
SPEAKER_01Guess what he wore all day? A bison shirt. A fucking bison shirt! But it was all day a bison. No, it wasn't. You bought it, you boug your Michelle bought it the last time you went to a game. It fit well on me. So he's wearing he's wearing this bison shirt. You just heard this whole monologue that half of you probably fell asleep for about how it can't support the bisons. He wore a bison shirt to this game. Now, let me explain something to you guys who don't have AAA or minor league baseball teams. I know two adults that wear bison's sh minor league baseball, and they're both special adults. I'm not talking about Matt. One is a guy named Mark who goes to every better Better Beerface? Yes. There's another guy that goes to Planet Fitness in in in in uh Harlem Road. Did you see the video of Better Beerface making out with Sarah? Oh, an IAI video? Yeah, I think. I didn't see it. No.
SPEAKER_02Oh, what an ass. You do like eight. Dude, it was great!
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyways. So he's walking around in his minor league baseball shirt that he just told you he doesn't support the team. He's walking around uh Charlotte, North Carolina in the shirt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they don't know Buffalo bisons. Well maybe they do. It's not the point.
SPEAKER_01But anyway, um Okay, so blah blah blah, where were we at? We went to Okay, so we went to eat. We went to so we this is this is in Statesville. Yeah. So now we're going to Charlotte where the concert is. So um what is it, like a 40-minute, half hour something like that? Drive? To Charlotte.
SPEAKER_02And we had like the whole after we couldn't park until like 4 30. Okay. So we had like basically like the whole fucking day to kind of we had not nothing on plan. We didn't really do that much of a research.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We knew we weren't gonna eat breakfast, we were gonna have a really good, like, late lunch, early dinner.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which we did. Yeah. Which we'll get to that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But we have it was really I mean the savior of the day really was whoever the hell Rich uses as AI AI.
SPEAKER_01Oh, by the way, my AI does not is not a voice. I read the words. I know he's he's she's a seductress, please. Maybe the words are very seductive, I don't know, but there's no voice or anything. So we do the the first thing we do is the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which was fucking awesome. I I I've never watched a race in my life. I don't know much about NASCAR. I think it's a giant waste of gas. No, it is not. I think it's a giant waste of gas. Especially these days. Um but I I legitimate I came up with the idea, because I'm a great friend. And a great and an even better person. And um I dude, it was so much fun. We uh you get to learn stuff. I I I love the idea of like the moonshiner, was the moonshining stuff was the roots. I love And you got to see the real fucking cars. I love the history of it. It was awesome. I'm a big history guy, so um learning about the history in the beginnings, I just thought was so great. And I was like, I want to see a documentary on this stuff. This is so cool. I guarantee you there's something. Oh, yeah, or a book or something. I love that. Uh as man, so Matt got totally uh duped by the by the front desk guy, as he talked about. Yeah, very much so. He duped you. And he knew you were a a veteran, too. Yeah. And he still duped you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's screwed up. So the front desk guy has. He screwed us on ten dollars because we can go on a second or regular limited time.
SPEAKER_01Nobody in the history of the NASCAR Museum or Hall of Fame has gone on that twice in the same day. At least at least not a weekend. Nope. Never happened. Nope. Nope. So uh we got in, we looked out. Yeah, we get we look we waited for like 25 minutes for for the line, which is fine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But the line was triple by the time we.
SPEAKER_01Exactly, because we got there early. We were in the we were still in the AM, I think, when we got there. So as Matt talked about, the uh the ride itself was so much fun. We were in the same car but different cars in the video game. Um I am I've never been so proud. I I finished dead last. Very good. He was really good. And I was like, and I wasn't trying to race, I was trying to ruin other people's time, which is something I do very well.
SPEAKER_02Trolling is our like if we could teach a class at University of Notre Dame in trolling, Richie and I would be like the department chairs. The guy.
SPEAKER_01And so would Greg and Jerry. Not really Jerry. Jerry wants to be. Jerry's still got some practice, I guess. Yeah, Jerry's 13 years behind us. Um I almost wanted to meet that guy who finished in first place and goes, You are somebody who I would not want to hang out with because you are probably boring. I guarantee you we have a NASCAR jacket. Oh, yeah. Tattoo of NASCAR.
SPEAKER_02Not really a guy, but a car no NASCAR.
SPEAKER_01Matt made a claim that um he was doing stick shift and I was doing automatic. That is 100% true. Yeah. That is true. I don't know how to drive stick shift. Oh, that's so funny. I'm I think I was the first generation of post-stick shift where it became the norm to drive automatics, I think. So I'm a victim of my uh society, I'll say. Um and I will agree with Matt. Matt said that he he wanted the far side because he he didn't want me to see him getting out because it was gonna be difficult for him. That's a shame because it would have been funny. But I I had trouble getting out. My knees, I don't have great knees, my knees were fucking screaming trying to get- I don't know how they don't have much trouble or been told, like, hey, maybe make it.
SPEAKER_02And I would assume that a majority and this isn't a stereotypical, like, I'm not making any assumptions, but I would assume that NASCAR fans on the whole are closer to me than you.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. I see what you're saying. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Broken, over overweight, not healthy.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I think they sacrificed that for the authenticity of we're gonna go in the real cars. I'm all about it.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, like you would think they I agree with you, but they could have put them up a little bit, maybe a platform. Like, yeah. 100%. Maybe like even six inches, it would have been better. Nobody would have known once you're in, nobody would have known.
SPEAKER_01Yep, I I'm with you. Or like even like a six inch with a little ramp, like a bevet, yeah, something like that. Um so that, but honestly, other than that, I have no issues with. I mean, that was such a good time. When you first of all, the design of the Hall of Fame itself is so beautiful when you walk inside. It's they have this ramp that goes around and up. That had it's this giant flat ramp that has car after car after car after car, real cars, and it's on a timeline. So you see the original cars to whatever modern day cars. It's it's so cool.
SPEAKER_02When he says ramp, it's uh it's actually on a bank. Like the the the bank of a of I want to say, and I thought I saw it was Daytona's bank, because it has that like 45 degree angle, so like you could barely go up that even there was like to get closer to some of the cars, you they had like a little stairway, and even that was really high. Yeah, so they made that bank like that. I I don't know if it was Daytona, but I know Daytona has a very steep bank, and it was done. Whoever planned it deserves like a raise, it was amazing. Yes, and and and then Richie is Ronis. He we we never talk NASCAR. I don't really talk NASCAR with anybody. If I do with anybody, it's Jerry. But I could tell he was having a good time.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it was so much fun. And just the little things, each each little item when you go, you know, you go to any museum or hall of fame that you're you know, behind the glasses, all this merchandise and you read the stories about them. There were so many great stories to read about people who I never knew, never heard of, never cared about. Just great stuff. And so just who whoever did that, like Matt said, they seem to have waited a long time to have a Hall of Fame. I think the Hall of Fame's not been around that for that time.
SPEAKER_02I think it's when they tried to get real popular with America, which I'm not a big fan of, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01And they're going back to the but they took their time and they did it right. They, I mean, every Hall of Fame, if you need the overhaul, look at what they did over there because it was fantastic. So kudos to them. And by the way, just a beautiful downtown overhaul in Charlotte. Loved it there, um, just enjoyed it. Um in the neighborhoods. Neighborhoods were awesome. Because we we went a couple places before we had a part of the couple. Yeah. So after that, we went to um I think we went to eat after that. Yes. And so this was like a legit barbecue place. So what they specialized in was Texas barbecue with Carolina barbecue sauces. Carolina's more vinegary. Um, but the the meat was Texas, but the sauce was Carolina. It was fantastic. Uh I I got like the meat lover special, so it was uh like brisket. To me, brisket is the thing that you try to see if it's a legit place or not.
SPEAKER_02It's like the butt in Buffalo, it's like to me, it's the hot wing. Yeah. Like you can get all fancy with all this other bullshit, but give me the hot give me your best hot wing. And to me, that's the grade. Yeah. That's your benchmark. Okay, you can get all fancy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Or an Italian restaurant, they say if the chicken param is the meal that tells you about the place. I don't eat cheese, so but um for me, that's my own personal rule, it's brisket. The brisket was amazing. The the waiter was such a nice dude. Oh, he was awesome. Everyone was nice there. We had a great time. I didn't finger rub him. I paid that so I didn't have an opportunity to do it. Yeah, you didn't have an opportunity. I have finger rubber. I believe it. Um we had this cornbread that was like you said, jalapenos, and it was fantastic. So after we were nice and satiated and ready to go to the next thing, we were kind of like, hey, let's, you know, the world is our oyster here. Let's figure out so uh we find a comic book shop, as Matt said it didn't work out, so we go to another one that I probably was even better, I think, by the reputation and what they were, you know, the one that you went that we went to.
SPEAKER_02And I know they don't listen, but I go to a place in South Buffalo called Empire Comics that I love. I am a comic book guy. Which is on my street, actually. It's on your street. But and I'll never not go to that. Like that is the only place I go to. But when I walked in there, it was like it wasn't like alright. So if you're listening and you were going, you can select, say, one thing, right? One version of something, which is great. But in the comic book world, say, I'm gonna just use this as a Spider-Man, there's a Spider-Man uh episode 10, whatever, uh number 10. So when that comes out on a Wednesday, that everybody knows, okay, Spider-Man 10's out, but what maybe people that don't know is that there's like four or five additional versions of that with different artists doing cuts. Like collector's editions. Yeah. There might be an artist you really like and whatnot, right? And you can pre-order those and all that, and that's fine. But when you walked into this place, they had them all in stock. Like they had them like five deep. And I'm like, these so these guys did definitely did a lot of business. Because you're not gonna you're not gonna buy 50 copies of a of a specific comic if you weren't gonna sell them. Because the margin in comic in a for a comic book store is so minimal. So the it was just great. It was great. It did so much. I could have spent a fucking afternoon there. I really could have. And I felt guilty because Richie's. Not at all.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't I was enjoying just hanging out. I was enjoying watching Matt. So Matt said that I was making fun of him because of the comics. I wasn't. I don't judge Matt for his comic books. I think it's cool what he reads the comics. I was making fun of the conversation he was having with the with the clerk. You know what I mean? I would never make fun of somebody for their interests except for maybe soccer. Other than that, like you do you, you know? I think so. So, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. But I don't like North American soccer. I don't like German and English.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, good for the Germans and the English. So they're going off about their comic book interests, like, and I don't have the energy for that type of conversation. And Matt did it like 50 times the rest of the day. What? Oh the the giving my autobiography of my comic book life, you did it with like rock music with the other people that would. Oh, we're gonna get into it, my friend. So Was this when I was high? Yes. Oh. So um he the guy was like, Oh yeah. Actually, I don't think he asked where we were from. I think he just saw your your uh your Buffalo Bison shirt and said, Oh, you guys are from Buffalo? And then he made a comment like, I have a bad uh experience with Buffalo. I got stabbed there.
SPEAKER_02Oh yes.
SPEAKER_01And then he goes, Yeah, we were in Niagara Falls, blah blah. And I go, That's not even the right county. You didn't get stabbed in the ball. I was like annoyed by that for some reason. Like, who cares, right? But I was like, it's not even the right county. Niagara Falls is like far away. And then they're just you know doing their little like comic book thing, like, oh yeah, so Spider-Man episode 75, and you're like, Yeah, dude, I know what you're talking about. Like they're going like ham at each other talking about this shit. And I'm kind of making fun of him to our other friends. And then you came over to ask me something, and I yelled at you. I go, I'm trying to make fun of you, leave me alone.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_01Um and then after that we went to a record store. Um another which I found for Matt. Uh so we go into the record store. I'm not a collector at all. I Matt's a big collector, he collects everything. He collects comics, rec vinyl records, uh, whatever those fucking hel helmets, those what what are those little head things? The head, the people's heads that you collect, uh what do they call them in the box? Oh, Funkos? Funkos. Oh well, I used to. I don't really do it. I do the guys I like. Okay, he collects the guys he likes. Yeah. The only thing I've ever collected in my life was like CDs because you kind of had to, because you had to the way to listen to music was to buy the CDs so you can't. You should save your money and waiting for a good MP3 player to come out. And I did that too. So we go to this record store, it was really cool in there. I found a um I did not realize how expensive records were, because I'm not a record guy. I found a interesting Metallica bootleg that I knew was a bootleg that they kind of presented like it was a real release, which I thought was kind of shady. 39 bucks for a fucking bootleg is like fuck you, dude. Um That's very expensive for a c for a album. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02A lot of them were like high 30s in this place. Because they're probably hard to find ones. But like if you got like if you wanted ride of lightning, you're probably spending 28.
SPEAKER_01Okay. That's crazy. Um but that was cool. Um we ran into like a couple, uh, an older couple that was going to the ACD shirt. They had your horns, they were really nice. Uh and after that, we went to a bar, which this is where the annoyance starts.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, that was so cool. But go on.
SPEAKER_01I didn't even think I talked about that. Oh, I don't think you did either. So this bar I wish Buffalo could have something like this. They couldn't. They wouldn't be able to control it. Yeah, exactly. It they get too greedy. And then the pot some politician would do attacks on it and had to close because you know some bullshit like that. So it's a bar, huge bar. They have, I think it's called candlestick bowling, and or candle wick bowling, which is just small pins. Small pins were it's set by the strings. Yeah, it's reset, so that's why it's called candles, stick or candle with small balls, like Matt would know about small balls, but small balls, that was too easy. Um and then the rest of the bar is just wall to wall arcade machines, and we're talking just everywhere, and not the bullshit at Dave and Busters, and we're talking old school ones, and they were all free to play. All you needed to do was buy your what you're drinking. I bought man a beer and a pop, I think. We we exchanged a couple rounds, right? Yep. And it was like I'm like, this is like seventh heaven. This is so cool. We played off-road, right? We played off-road. Which is awesome. And a guy had joined us. A guy had joined us, really nice guy was fun. Um so Matt's like, this is where Matt has his other weird thing when it comes to parking. So it was in the four o'clock hour. Getting to be 4 30. The fact that you have no idea what I'm talking about even annoys me even more.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't I didn't have no point.
SPEAKER_01So Matt's very proud of himself, as you as you heard, folks, that he um he had a reserved parking spot.
SPEAKER_02Which we would have needed.
SPEAKER_01May I finish? So it's great to have a reserved parking spot. It is. And like you said, it was a necessity a necessity. Now, Matt's thing is ACDC didn't come on until 9 o'clock. Matt is a fucking concert veteran. He knows what time the headliner's coming on. We had to get to the parking spot right away. To park in the spot. That was reserved. Can I defend myself? No. Reserved. Reserved. The spot wasn't reserved. A spot was reserved. So instead of going hanging out at this bar, having a good time for two hours, three hours till like maybe six or seven o'clock, we had to go playing video games? You're you were drinking anyway?
SPEAKER_02We would have been on the 17th floor of this parking garage. We were bottom floor, literally our car was pointing towards the exit. Okay. You couldn't have got any butter.
SPEAKER_01So your alternative was I'd rather s get to the concert at five o'clock in the afternoon to drink, by my ears, my my horns, and have a good time. When ACD for four hours we had nothing to do.
SPEAKER_00Because you wanted to get your spot.
SPEAKER_01I had something to do. Oh my god. Okay, so and here's here's the the proof positive that I am correct, folks. He mentioned, and I heard this this morning too and I was on the treadmill, rocking my hotbod. Just kidding. Um he said, I bought two beers and I f and I pounded one real quick because I was bored. Exactly! We were bored because we were sitting there for four hours. Four fucking hours waiting for the show to come out because he had to get his reserve spot. I would rather park on the 17th floor and wait to leave for an extra half hour. No, it would have been an extra couple hours. Whatever. Being super content with the show, being on a concert high, then getting there, you know, a after spending a couple hours at playing video games, yeah, then getting there and going, what do we do? What do we do now? So You know what? I've never been there before. I wanted to make sure we were good. Yeah, well, well, we were good. We were well, and by the way, going back to his parking, he he double parked. Not even on purpose. He double parked. That's like once again, he's like the worst driver, and I took a picture of it to prove. Um so, yeah, and there was a there was a minor league ballpark there. And Charlotte Knights. It was a really, really cool ballpark because it was built into the ground. So it wasn't like we're it's just a building you see, and that you know, you see the outside, it's fancy. You could walk up to the fence and see the ballpark. It was a cool thing. And Matt likes baseball, possibly loves baseball. I didn't love baseball. I adore baseball. I love baseball, I adore baseball. Hey, it's a minor league park, let's take a look. He's like, I'm not doing that. Like, why not? The amount of we walked all the way to the stadium where the ACDC played and back with no you had no problem walking. No problem at all walking. This by the time this he was fucked up at this point. Completely fucked up. Very much so. Um He had no problem doing it and walking another half mile to some random fucking park where there was like dogs.
SPEAKER_02But there was dog shit.
SPEAKER_01There was dog shit.
SPEAKER_02But it was across the street from the Charlotte State.
SPEAKER_01Holding his beer in his cane. So that's where yeah, we sat down and he spilt the beer on me, which I was annoyed. I was, but I it was fine. I didn't do it on purpose. I got of course not. You would never do it. No. I got over that in five seconds. I was like, motherfucking man, but then you know, I was over that. So that was cool. Um so yeah, he wait, he completely burned like two hours of maybe just hanging at this really cool bar that we'll never see again. Because we had to get or like a parking spot that he already had reserved parking for. So um we go into the show and it finally opened it. By the way, we got there so early the gates for the fucking concert weren't even open yet. So we're sitting there.
SPEAKER_02Why was there a long line then? See, I'm not the only person.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're not the only asshole. Um, and then let's see. Oh yeah, then we then the whole like thing with the devil horns. So Matt Matt wants to buy devil horns because Matt has to buy stuff. Matt said Matt I like that. Matt has to buy stuff. I like that. And did I say they're stupid? Yeah, why did I say that? Because he was high and I wanted to like tweak his paranoia saying you're the only guy. And it didn't work. And it worked, it worked, but I didn't really care either way, but I really was just trying to fuck with him a little bit. Um, he did not go up to a woman and ask her opinion about the devil horns. The woman came up to us. The woman came she came up to us. She overheard our conversation because we we we kind of argue loud. She came to us, this woman, very pleasant. She was like, um, I think I'd wear them. Yeah, who cares? Like, yeah, she took your side, absolutely. And I did like I didn't really care. Either way, if you wore them, I thought they were kind of it was good for a picture, you know. And then we did see other other men of your um age and disposition wearing them. Um so then we get into the show and um Matt is gone at this point. Gone. He's small talking everybody. I I I probably skipped over a couple times where he small talks people than I'm alright I I'm not a small talk person. I do it a lot in my job. I have a professional kind of job and it behooves me to go out of my way to small talk and be and be nice to people. It's it's paid, it's paid it's professional courtesy. Yeah, and it's pay dividends already doing that type of shit. So I exhaust my social shit, you know, at work. So Matt and I've made this show up to Matt and our friends, he's heard it already, but Matt has this thing where you've seen the commercials, guys, the insurance commercials, where it's You turn into your parents when you buy a house, and then it's the it's the it's the um therapist helping the person not act like you're a boomer, I guess what the kids say, a boomer. So Matt is that boomer in the commercials where he's like, hey folks, how you doing? That's Matt. And you want to slit his throat. But when I'm high and drunk, I'm even worse. It's the worst. Well, that's the it's you don't really do it that much when you're sober. You're more like angry when you're sober. Am I? Well, yeah. Okay.
unknownAm I?
SPEAKER_01So um the opening band was just they were they were meh. It was more like, hey, I'm She was pretty, but that's it. Exactly. Like it was a it was a generic rock band, and the singer was a hot blonde, and I'm not like I like a lot of like bands with that with women in it. This was not a band that was like good with women in it. It was a band that said that sold sex appeal. If you look at it, if you look at the album cover, that's all the proof you need.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um she sold records. Yeah, yeah. That's all and nobody gave a shit which is all been reading the directions on a fucking. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. So that was kind of a no, you know, it was like whatever. And they were loud as fuck. Um Were they? Yeah, like ACDC was very generous with the PA. Very generous with the PA. They were very loud. So um, so yeah, there was a couple to our left. Matt was talking about the uh lumber sexual. So it's so this guy was a jerk off. Matt was right, but what happened was I don't think you remember, you were so high, he he barreled over us. Like rudely. Like he didn't say, Hey, excuse me, guys, can you you know, guys, when you all go to a show or a concert or a fucking um uh a ball game or a hockey game, when somebody goes, Hey, excuse you, when you have to go down the road, you say, Excuse me, and they stand up for you. This guy didn't do it, he just bowled over, bowl over Matt, which annoyed me. So I actually took my knee and put it right in the side of his knee. Oh, tested it. Oh yeah, tested his MTL. I go, fucking excuse me. Oh. And the very polite wife, yeah, she saw it. She saw that I was aggravated. Oh, did she? So I think a lot of her politeness was like maybe trying to trail it. Yeah, Mr. Sunglasses that night guy.
SPEAKER_02And he was like on his phone at the concert all non-stop. Like he wasn't like taking pictures, he was just like, like, oh, I wonder what's going through that.
SPEAKER_01Probably Dave Matthews fan. And his wife was like, cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But by the way, extremely good looking. Like, like you're like, what is this guy doing? What is this girl doing with this guy? No personality. Maybe he won the lottery or something. Yeah, something like that. So um, Matt is talking the ears off of the guy to his right, doing the whole So how many times have you seen ACDC? Just that's how he starts, and then they're having this conversation, and I'm recording it because I'm making fun of them. And then what happened was there was another couple next to them whose seats that was actually were. And the guy said, You could sit there, but if we get our seats taken, I gotta boot you. So when when that happened, when they got booted, you were so out of it, when the next couple sat down, you're like, Did they leave because of me? I'm like, oh my god, I started laughing. I didn't know that. Oh, that was so funny. I was laughing. I was like, no, man, no, they didn't leave because of you.
SPEAKER_02Wasn't he like a Hispanic guy?
SPEAKER_01I have no idea. I was I was I was trying to pay as little attention as possible. Um, but yeah, so that was that was so great. Um so yeah, so Matt um stuck up a new conversation with that guy. So he's talking with him the whole time, and then he starts talking with the woman that was next to me. So I have these two people talking in front of me, talking like one on one side, one on the other, and I'm just in hell. Because if this woman was single, I'd at least have hope. Like I could talk to her and maybe, you know, eh. Uh, but she was married, so it was like I'm just sitting there, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_02Like you could have bagged her right there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, probably. She probably would have fucked you in front of him. I'm not a stud, so I don't want to go on that route. No, but that fucked that guy. But it was the generic conversation, the generic rock conversation. Oh, I saw them in 2005, I saw them. I listened to them since 1985. Like that generic conversation. I grew up with a friend of ours that has not has since passed away. We listen to music that is a generation before us. So we always got the old guy going, Oh, I saw them in the 70s. I've heard that conversation 10,000 times. The my history with this band conversation that everybody has when they run into a stranger that likes to.
SPEAKER_02You'll do that when you're older with Metallica. No, I'm just gonna be some 16-year-old kid. Metallica's gonna be like 78. You'd be like, Oh, I saw Metallica back in this tour, and they're like, Oh, really, man, that's awesome. It's like, oh, I'm an old school guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I won't I won't be doing that. Okay. I'm already old, so it hasn't happened yet. Okay, what are you- What are you gonna be? 44? No, not even close, sir. Not even close. On Tuesday, uh, you remember my birthday today. That's annoying. That's annoying. But no, I will not be in my I will not be in my mid-40s, no. So I got that going on. And in the level of just he's such a you're you become such like a, I don't know, just such a goofball, in a gloving way. But like you're just like, hey, how's it going, folks? Like that kind of thing to everybody. And you even like your manner isn't changing, like your hands are like this, like folded, like, hmm. You know what it is?
SPEAKER_02It's John Candy at in vacation at the end. Remember the security guard? Yeah, it is that I'm sorry, guys!
SPEAKER_01It is that you are so it is all that's what you do, and it's like, I and I want it, I want to kill him.
SPEAKER_02I want to- Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh the concert itself, ACDC, fucking fantastic. 10 out of 10. Uh ACDC is so and by the way, they really play. It's not like the backing tracks, like Motley Crue and a lot of the younger bands do, where they're not really playing, and then it's like they change the narrative to say, oh, well, you're you're here to see a performance, not a concert. Like, no, no. We want to see the band fucking play and fucking sing. Man, they were spent. You see, like he was sweating like this. Yeah, and it's it's bittersweet because, like I said, they'll probably be the last time we ever see him play. Uh Brian Johnson, the lead singer, late. Yep, he's in his late 70s now. He is he struggled, and it's okay. He gets a pass. He gets a pass. Doesn't take away from anything from the show. It was it's a 10 out of 10. He got through it. Uh, they opened with um If you want blood, which what a great song to open with. He he sang really well. He kind of put all his all into that song, and you could tell after that it kind of fell off. Because they don't play that often, do they? I don't think so. They play it enough, but not like Hell's Bills. Great song to start off with. Um There were some times where you could see their age was hitting them, and like I said, respect to the fact that they're still playing. They're instruments. Uh there was a point during Thunderstruck where it's like this little hammer on.
SPEAKER_02Here we go, folks. Go on. Go on.
SPEAKER_01This is the Richie Nobo kink, but go on. This is not a criticism of the band. This is a This is what's great about going to a concert type of thing, where you're seeing them live, unedited. Thunderstruck. There's that thing where uh in the beginning of the song that did-da-da-da-da-da, it's like that hammer-on-paw thing that that Angus does. And I don't know if he just wasn't warmed up properly, or maybe just being older and the fine motor's not there anymore. He struggled with it. He kind of lost it a bit. He lost the the band fell out of time. So he lost time with the drummer. Motherfucker. Which is okay. Matt thinks I'm criticizing him that. It's interesting to watch. But they're so good they they found the time again. They got back into time, they got back into their standard 4-4. Matt completely missed this.
SPEAKER_04I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Small talking with this guy that he'll never see. That I guarantee you, if I if I put up four people, he wouldn't even pick up this guy in the lineup. But he's listening to this guy talk about his ACDC concert history, going back like Matt, why would you even care about what this guy during the show enjoyed? We're both fans. You're talking about your times you went to ACDC while ACDC is playing. Oh, I was listening, but like No, you weren't. And then the same thing happened. Uh Hell's Bells. There's that part in the beginning, the the arpeggio part where he's like, no, near me. I like that. Probably the only part of that song I like. He struggled with that part. It's okay. It's totally fine. It could have been just a momentary fuck up. It's not a big deal. But it's cool to watch that stuff because it's like I'm here live. It shows that he's live, but he's not faking. And it's fun stuff to see. Matt missed that too.
SPEAKER_02But I don't want to see it. I don't I want to see it as like, to me, it's like 1983. It shows they're human. I don't have to see them fuck up to they're not human.
SPEAKER_01Oh, but I okay, that's cool. But I I just but the rest of the show, it was fantastic. Some people like Easy DC, some people like fucking Motley Crue. Yeah. Matt, the audience can't see your point. Oh so yeah, uh that was um Oh my god, what a show. And um, yeah, I could not have been happier seeing them. The Satless was was great. Uh it was funny too. I had my hopes up. I was telling Matt, I he probably didn't even listen to me telling this, but my favorite ACDC song is Night Prowler. Yeah, I did. You did hear this part. Yeah. Yeah. So I had like an outside hope they'd play the song because I I've never like Night Prowler too. It's a great song. It's the last track on Highway to Hell. And I found out later that they've never played it once. So my outside shot of them playing it, I had zero chance of hearing the song. Which, whatever, it's cool. I wasn't disappointed. It was just, you know, I didn't think they'd play it anyways. But um, yeah, Settlers was you'd have your standard Titans, your uh, he refuses to play.
SPEAKER_02Because of Bon Scott. Isn't there a song they refuses to play?
SPEAKER_01If there is. Oh yeah, Brian. Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_02Out of respect, he doesn't want to play it ever.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it's it's a long way to the top. I don't think they've ever sang he's ever saying that. I could be wrong though. It's tough. It's tough with the uh bagpipes though, anyway. Yeah. That's a tough situation.
SPEAKER_02I was watching it live actually, not live, but like it was when they were alive back when they were kids. Probably a Bonscott too. It was Bonscott. Yeah, and it was like whoever thought to put bagpipes in a heavy metal song.
SPEAKER_01There's a funny story about it. It's probably boring for the dinner, but I'll tell you a funny story about that. He he played okay real quick, he played the bagpipes in that on that track. He didn't know how to play the bagpipes. He had to figure it out. He he let the the producer, which is was their older brother at the time, think that he could play bagpipes because he was in a bagpipe band. So when they went to play it, he goes, you know, I never played these before. I was the I was the drummer of the band. So so he figured out enough to do it to play that track, which is he just rock and roll, right? It's cool. Um I did probably blow hard and put out a couple of apparently you put air in it beforehand. Is that what I mean? And you blow the air out. Uh-huh. But there's air already in it. You get to the phone.
SPEAKER_02And then it's coming out, it's that's what it's like.
SPEAKER_01Something like that, yeah. I don't I know what I know about bagpipes. I always like bagpipes. Well, me too. They're cool. Yeah. So that was a great time. So Matt's big plans for us all struck out. Which I always love when Matt when Matt's plans fail. Um, what was it? Uh Waffle House. He was building up this Waffle House. We were gonna go, you were we're gonna see fights, we're gonna see this, we're gonna see that. It was takeout only. So Matt didn't want to get it. This this was one of the get once again. Matt was so out of it, inebriated.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I was high. We I I definitely, if we would have got pulled over, I would have been in jail.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, which was not now knowing that now, I'm you know, maybe we could have.
SPEAKER_02You're the responsible one.
SPEAKER_01Even even we could have, you know, even more so a reason to hang out in the parking lot in the parking ramp in the 17th floor. But you know what, what do I know? So anyway, Matt didn't want to get the food there because he said that the the employees were pissed off and he thought we'd get our food spit in. You could not be any further from the truth.
SPEAKER_04Oh, they were pissed.
SPEAKER_01So what happened was they were very pleasant looking to me. They didn't look mad at all. There was a secure an armed guard there. A guy in front of us said, You can't go in. And the guy's like, No, boss, you can't come in. Like, come on, what the fuck? He's like, No, I can't come in. We're we're only takeout. And that was it. The guy walked away. The employee was just saying he they were probably in a good mood that they didn't have to deal with people coming in. They were not mad at all. You saw one guy at the register, so we just walked away. We ended up going to Sheets, because that was the only place open. Sheets was fine. Um, we did see what we believed to be a prostitute. I don't know if you remember that. Wow, you don't remember that. No. Man, you really, really your memory. Was she a big blonde? No. She was blonde though. Uh Matt made a comment about how I had my food sp uh sprawled all over the hotel bed. Uh kinda true. I there were no tables or anything in the hotel, so uh, you know, whatever. What are you gonna do? We tipped well. We tipped we we tipped the uh the staff wall. Um, the okay, the night of sleeping. Matt is the rudest person on the planet. He is making comments to himself about the videos he's watching. He said he said he said he first of all he said that I had to have the pitch black to sleep. The truth is we had the TV on. Per his suggestion, so I don't know what he's talking about. I didn't make the TV face him to fuck with him. So the TV was facing him, hoping that he would turn his back away from me. It didn't work. He Matt stayed on that side, but kind of just guarded himself or something. Um, but he was making very loud comments about the YouTube videos he's watching while I'm trying to fucking sleep. We're talking two we didn't get by the time we came back, eight, it was probably like 1.30, 2 o'clock in the morning. Earliest 2 o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And we were getting up early to go home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm an old fart at heart, okay? Like, dude, I I don't want to hear the commentary about your whatever fucking video you're watching at 2 o'clock. And then I go, Matt, what the fu- I'm flashing my light at you, like, Matt, what are you doing? And you're like, oh, calm down. I do remember that. Oh my I could have killed you. I could have killed you. So luckily I got five hours sleep that night. Yeah. Um, yeah, then we just woke up and then we went home. That was it after that. Yeah, nothing happened. Oh, thank you. Thank you. The other letdown. For years, Matthew Delano Stoltman has been talking about these honey biscuits that are quote unquote fucking delicious. They're fucking amazing. So we f we find a Bojangles, we go in, Matt orders. I order whatever I order, it's not on the menu anywhere. So he goes in his his uh super high polite voice and goes, Excuse me, ma'am, do you have honey biscuits? This woman looked like she was ready to call the police. Well, you would say extra chromosomes, honestly. So looked up at him like, what are you? And she was so polite, but you could tell she's like, This idiot is asking about something I know. She goes, Maybe it's a maybe it's corporate, which I assume meant like a corporate-owned Bojangles as opposed to a franchise. Maybe then it was that. She was so annoyed at you. And then you were like, maybe they'll have them for the lunch menu. Like, no, this woman has never heard of them. Which means they don't have them at all. You say woman, she was like 18 years old. She's legally a woman. If you're 18, listen to the news. When it's when a woman's arrested or a man's arrested at 18, they're not a boy or a girl, they're an 18-year-old man, 18-year-old woman.
SPEAKER_02She doesn't know shit.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So, anyways, the Waffle House, Matt let us down. Bojangles, Matt let us down again. Um But that was good food, you got to jangle. I enjoyed it, it's fine, it was fine. Oh, shut the fuck up. You were not It wasn't uh the brisket that I found or the steak sandwich that I found, but you know. Um but other than that, it was uh other than those that hour of complaints, it was a fantastic time. I enjoyed um enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_00I I am thankful that Matt came up with the idea and um I found this on the web for that was other than that or complaints, it was Oh, I don't know where that came from.
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01You got Takashi on your phone, huh? Yeah. So Matt's Matt's uh home screen is him and Takashi. Not his grandchild. It was not his wife, but Takashi with his arm around him.
SPEAKER_02Takashi Toshiro. Nerd!
SPEAKER_01And then he's in the background. As as the nerd. Probably the nicest human being I've ever met in my life, Takashi. Uh but yeah, that was um what a great time. Loved it, loved every minute of it. I got my complaints out. I'm sure there's more that I forgot about. Um But that was a good trip. Oh god, it was so much fun. Yeah. So much fun. But yeah, that's it for me, man. Alright.
SPEAKER_02Well, I uh hope you guys liked that. And you got the other side of the coin uh for the st for this for the trip. I'd say the truth's in between.
SPEAKER_01No, no, it's not. I told you the truth. Notice how I admitted when I was when when he said the right stuff and I said, Yep, that's true. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't have that kind of uh intention.
SPEAKER_01And by the way, I don't think you're lying. I just think your memory is so bad, especially when you're inebriated. I'm I'm not accusing you of lying or anything. It's just you're just old. Yeah, you're just an old stoner. I it doesn't bother me none. You're an old disabled veteran. Shut the fuck up a lot. I discovered something that annoys him. It's calling him a disabled veteran, and I did it on a whim. By the way, after six hours of him annoying me and laughing at the fact that he's annoying me, I found a I found an Achilles heel of he doesn't like being called a disabled veteran, which is actually technically true. He is a disabled veteran.
SPEAKER_02Um no, I'm disabled, comma, and a veteran. Okay. I'm not a disabled veteran. That makes me sound like I got hurt in in in in the field of battle or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Uh my friend here is a disabled veteran, like a comma, like you're saying.
SPEAKER_02You can say my friend here is disabled and a veteran.
SPEAKER_01Okay. My friend here is a disabled and veteran. Like, I'll go real quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But anyways, I was Let's see if it works at wrestling today. Oh, because we are going to wrestling today.
SPEAKER_01We're going to a f a free wrestling event in the parking lot of a weed store. That's what we're doing with our live. This might be a vox. This might be a thing. It's definitely gonna be. We're waiting for stories from Should I do some weed? Yeah, I'll drive. I can drive. I was planning on driving, so if you wanted to. You really? Yeah, I was planning on driving. Alright, I will. But I won't. I You can do whatever you want.
SPEAKER_02I didn't throw up last time. You you can do whatever you want.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Alright, then I will.
SPEAKER_01This is this is the parkling of a weed store. It's not like we're going we're going in a venue going, excuse me, can we like it's like, guys, this guy's puking.
SPEAKER_02You heard it here first, folks. You heard it here first. Watch it be the same fucking. Is it Nickel City Wrestling?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01But it's all it's all same group of people, I assume. It's you know, it's if I can do it now.
SPEAKER_02I want the lawyer guy to be there. Yeah. All right. Alright, guys. Uh well, for those of you, uh especially those in uh Japan, if you're listening, Kamichiwa? Kanichiwa? You're the whitest. I don't even know what it is. Congratulations, is all I want to do.
SPEAKER_00It'd be them going, Hello! If you're America, hello!
SPEAKER_02I do have Takashi Toshiro on my phone. I don't. I never admitted to that, you know. Oh man, that was a great day. Alright, uh well, I will see you guys. Probably not I don't know what my next thing will be. It'll it'll it's coming up. It's not canceled. It's not canceled, it's just I gotta figure it out. We're in the process of moving, folks. Alright. I will uh talk to you guys all later. Have a good uh whatever. Rock and roll. Rock and roll.
